Relaxing at the beach

This week I have been lucky enough to spend time at the beach. I like going to the beach but don't often get the time or the opportunity to go. Here in England we don't always get the ideal warm weather to visit the beach. It can be cold at the beach, however if you go on the right day you can wear a T-shirt and shorts instead of long trousers and thick jumpers.

One of my favourite things about going to the beach is walking barefoot in the sand and being able to dip my feet into the sea. Also if it's a warm day, I think it's nice to sit on the beach and read a book.

There are a lot of things you can do at the beach, so below I have made a list of things you could do if you get the chance to visit the beach this summer.
  • Walk barefoot along the beach
  • Dip your feet in the sea
  • Go swimming
  • Skim rocks on the water
  • Build sandcastles
  • Read a book

Rainbow Roses

Tomorrow is my birthday and as a surprise my Dad sent me these amazing, colourful roses. I have never seen anything like these before. These are real roses but they have been dyed to make them so colourful.

I'm looking forward to my birthday. I had a birthday dinner today though with my Grandparents as I won't be at home for very long tomorrow because I'm going camping for a couple of days. The dinner was great as I was able to celebrate my birthday with my Grandparents, even if it's a day early.

My Summer trip to London

I'm now back from my trip to London. I had a great time and saw a lot while I was there. During my trip I went to the London Cable Cars, Tower Bridge, Tate Britain and Matilda the Musical. Both The London Cable Cars and Tower Bridge museum provided amazing views of London. I was constantly taking photographs on my camera. Another place I  went to was the Tate Britain to look at the artwork there for my school work. It gave me some ideas for work that I need to do during the summer holiday. Also I went to see Matilda the Musical at the theatre. I can't begin to say how much I enjoyed watching Matilda the Musical. A week after watching it and I'm still singing the songs. Definitely a musical I would go see again.

The best part of my time in London was that I got to spend time with my family. I spent the weekend with my Dad and travelled around London with him. Also I was able to see my Grandparents, which was important to me. I don't get the chance to see them very often. So it was great that we were able to sit outside in the sunshine and listen to all of my Nanny's stories. I think my Nanny is an amazing story teller.

Overall I had a good time in London and hope to go back there soon.

I have included photographs I had taken during my trip to London, below.

Packing my suitcase

Today I'm travelling to spend the weekend in London with my Dad. I'm lucky enough to visit London two or three times a year for weekend visits. I like going on holidays and trips but it does involve packing a suitcase. I will usually leave packing my suitcase until the night before I'm travelling. For me packing usually involves making a list of what I need to pack, trying to get everything to fit in the case and in the rush of packing I will usually forget something.

I am sure I will write about my weekend in London when I return. I hope you have a good weekend.

Unfortunately this is not my suitcase. I didn't think you'd want to see my boring suitcase

Small but significant moments

Today I want to talk about those small but significant moments in life. The ones that we take for granted but that we should appreciate more. These moments could happen at any time, with family and friends and happen when you least expect it. It can be something that is a regular accurance. But looking back, it can be something special that means something.

These moments could be anything from private jokes, pulling funny faces or certain conversations that you remember well. It could be the more tender moments of having someone hug you when you are sad, hold your hand, being a shoulder to cry on or be the person who is always there for you. It could even be someone asking you if you are alright and if you need someone to help you or talk to you.

I have had small but significant moments in the last week. I have happy memories of Saturday nights dancing around the kitchen with my Mum and Nanny, listening to old records. The other night I felt sad so Mum and I sat in her room and talked while listening to classic 80s and 90s music. It brought back good memories. Also we have been having such good weather here in England, which means that the family have been able to sit outside in the garden in the evening. I like sitting outside on nice warm summer evenings with family because we all sit together and talk. I think it is important to make time for family.

Sometimes when life is busy and confusing you need to slow down and take a break. We need to try to remember the moments when we were really happy and that there are people out there who care about us.

Happy Birthday Mum

There is a lot I can say about my Mum. I don't know where to begin. For as long as I can remember it has been Mum and I, as my parents split when I was young. My Mum has always been the parent who has been there for me.  My Mum is one of the few people I feel I can really trust. She is someone I can talk to, who listens and will always try to help me.

We share the same sense of humour. We laugh at the same things and we have our private jokes that make us smile. Of course there are times when my Mum can annoy me but I'm certain there are times where I annoy her. But this is the same in all Mother and Daughter relationships.

Some of my favourite memories have been on family holidays. Mum and I have been on trips to Disneyland Paris, Brighton and London. These trips where it has been the two of us have been fun and there are a lot of memorable moments. From taking happy tourist photos around London, going on the teacups at Disneyland Paris and watching the 2012 Olympic Opening Ceremony in a hotel room in Brighton.

I really hope Mum has had a happy birthday because I think she deserves it. I hope that Mum knows how much I appreciate  everything she has done for me. Also I hope Mum knows just how much all the family love her.
