Last week I was asked by my Nanny to decorate my Great Nanny's walking frame with daises. This was to help make my Nanny's frame recognisable amongst the other residents' frames. I hand painted daises on to each side of the frame, one side is pictured below. I was happy to do this and even happier when I saw how happy my Great Nanny was.
Since finishing the painting I have been thinking about how we put our own stamp on things. This could be through something big as decorating a room to something small, such as personalising luggage labels or phone cases. In our house we've been known to decorate items such as watch straps and bookmarks.
Have you ever personalised items or created something new from recycled items?

Evening painting in the garden
After a busy week of exams I thought it would be nice to sit outside in the garden and do some painting. I thought I would make the most of the warmer weather Britain currently has. I was outside painting for less than an hour as the light began to fade, which explains why the photograph of the paintings is not great quality. But now that I have a week off Sixth Form I hope I can devote more time to painting and drawing.

The freedom of drawing
This is a busy time of year for students as exams are approaching. I'm spending most of my free time revising. However I have moments where I get distracted and start drawing. I draw on scrap pieces of paper, in the margin of my notes and essay plans.
I like drawing as it gives me a break from work. My drawings range from tonal pencil drawings to random doodles. I mainly draw doodles made from shapes from imagination and will sometimes incorporate drawings of objects around me. I have drawn so many that it has got to the point where I keep a journal with all the drawings in.
By drawing I am able to give myself a five minute break from revision to rest. What I am often told about art is that there are no right or wrong creations or responses. I know my doodles are not pieces art, but I just like the freedom of drawing the random shapes and lines.

Quiet morning in the sunshine
Yesterday I had had enough of being in my room revising
as I felt I needed a break. So I decided to venture outside into the sunshine, as it is such a rare sight
in England. I decided to sit outside in the garden and do some knitting while
listening to my iPod. My Mum laughed at me the other day and said that me
knitting is not the usual stereotype for a teenager.
It was nice to be able to sit outside. Seeing the sun makes me feel better as everything is bright outside. I enjoyed listening to my favourite music in the warmth of the sunlight while happily eating a plate full of biscuits.

Also I had time to do some painting. I like painting the
flowers in the garden. But I didn’t spend a huge amount of time on them because
the wind kept blowing the paper away.
