Tumblr Favourites - October 2014

Here are some of my favourite posts from my Tumblr this month. You can look at my favourites from last month here.

This month my Tumblr has been devoted to saying goodbye to autumn as we progress towards November and Winter. I have been sharing my favourite scenic photos as the leaves of the trees begin to change. As well as the combination of my favourite fandoms and jack-o-lanterns. I never seem to stray far from an art and fandom theme as gifs and paintings take up most of my post, rather than text quotes.

Walking round Flatford

Yesterday Mum and I went on a trip to Flatford to explore the local landscape of British Romantic artist John Constable (1776-1837). We started our walk from the train station and discovered the joys of British weather when we came across a muddy footpath, thanks to all the rain the night before. Thankfully I was prepared by wearing my old faithful pair of converse which I didn't mind getting ruined. While walking I was able to take plenty of photos of the scenic areas. It felt like we were walking in one of Constable's paintings. Somehow we managed not to fall over in the mud and made it to Flatford.

While in Flatford we saw picturesque scenery by the river which felt traditional of Constable's time. Buildings such as Willy Lott's Cottage were sources of inspiration for Constable and have been used in his paintings, such as the 'Hay Wain' 1821.
Despite the muddy footpaths the sun shined the whole day which allowed us to enjoy the peaceful landscape. Being there felt like we had travelled back in time. There was also a small museum which contains examples of Constable's preliminary sketches for his paintings, and his art supplies which show his original colour studies.
After a day of getting stuck in the mud and taking a trip back in time to traditional, rural Britain Mum and I decided to venture back through the mud home. On the train home there were some interesting characters which made an amusing end to the day.

New Autumn Wardrobe

It's now the time of year when I swap my summer wardrobe for my autumn/winter wardrobe. I love this time of year as I can start wearing checked shirts and oversized jumpers. I prefer the autumn/winter season when there is a crisp breeze in the air, as I feel cosy wrapped up in my soft shirts and jumpers. Also the colder weather means I can start wearing boots, including my favourite pair of floral Dr.Martens.

This year I want to be braver by wearing more skirts and dresses, as I always alternate between my favourite pairs of jeans. Now that it's colder I can wear leggings with skirts and dresses, which I find more comfortable than showing my bare legs in summer. I want to try a look that's a bit different for me. But I will always try to pair my skirts and dresses with my Dr.Martens, that always make me feel a bit more confident. We all have that one item that can transform how we feel about an outfit, that can make us walker taller and prouder. For me it's definitely my Dr.Martens.

I have found some images to use for inspiration. These should provide an insight into my style and outfits I would like to recreate.

Remember to laugh

This is a time I can say I genuinely feel happy and want to remember. I am lucky to be have amazing friends, who I can talk about random stuff with and help make A-Level work bearable. I can't believe the amount I laugh during the day. We all laugh about stories and private jokes, and get far too competitive in our daily UNO card games. The other tables must think we're all strange. But I have become increasingly conscious of my laugh. Well I say laugh, a cackle is probably a better description. I'm told I have a loud laugh for someone who's so quiet. Even though I feel tired when I get home I usually spend time telling my family some of the funny stories ,and gloss over the stress of unfinished work.

I just wanted to take a moment to remind you to laugh, smile and be happy. Take time out from stressing and worrying. I know that there will be days that you feel this isn't possible. However its important to surround yourself with good people and remind yourself to be grateful for sharing time and memories with them.

I have to say I'm worried about the day I leave sixth form. Where do I go next? Who will I stay in touch with? These are questions I don't want to think about yet. I just want to enjoy a time where I can honestly say I feel happy.

I hope you are happy, or if not I hope you find happiness soon. Have a good week x

Tumblr Favourites - September 2014

Here are some of my favourite posts from my Tumblr this month. You can look at my favourites from last month here.

This month I have focused on text posts. There are always those posts that say exactly how you feel and are ideal for those moments when you want to imply what you feel without having to say it. These have been included alongside various F.R.I.E.N.D.S gifs to celebrate the twenty year anniversary since the first episode was broadcast.
Although my Tumblr is filled with the usual fandom posts, I looked more at my interest in art and reflecting on my current mood.

Friday Favourites - Productive Days

We all have those rare days when we wake up early and fell productive. We convince ourselves that today is the day for completing work. Instead of going back to bed or spending hours on the internet, we actually make progress with work.

In a strange way I like these days as much as I like lazy days. The days when you lounge around at home, do nothing and don't regret spending the day that way. I like productive days because I feel I have achieved something and have less things to worry about. Sixth form work involves more private study which is based around self motivation, which can be a challenge. That's why it's important for me to take advantage of those days I'm ready to work. And how do I usually reward myself after such a productive day? By having a lazy day in bed.

Tumblr Favourites - August 2014

Here are some of my favourite posts from my Tumblr this month. You can look at my favourites from last month here.

Once again my Tumblr has been full of skylines, quotes and Fandoms, which I know sounds like an odd combination. As usual my Tumblr contains plenty of F.R.I.E.N.D.S gifs, mainly of iconic scenes and celebrating Matthew Perry's birthday. The fandom also paid tribute to the actor Robin Williams who appeared in an episode of F.R.I.E.N.D.S. The humour of the gifs contrast with the colourful sunsets and inspirational quotes or saying that reflect my current mood. This month my Tumblr posts have been more random and difficult to summarise, but I guess that is the genius of Tumblr in that it caters to people's varied interests, such as Fandoms, travel, films, etc.

Friday Favourites - Airplane the movie

This week I wanted to tell you about a film you may not have heard of. 'Airplane' is a comedy about an ex-fighter pilot trying to save his relationship and take control of an airliner after crew and passengers suffer food poisoning. On this flight passengers regret eating the fish. The film is filled with sketches and quick gags which were relevant in the 80s and in a way shows how comedy has and hasn't changed over the decades.

This film was recommended to me by my Mum. Although some of the gags may seem strange at first, once you understand the time the film was made and the context it makes sense. The films also contains references to famous films of the time, such as Jaws and Saturday Night Fever.

Friday Favourties - Exploring the local area

Recently I have been taking walks around our local 26 mile footpath with a friend. The main purpose behind these walks is for me to paint and draw the landscape for art. However my friend and I find ourselves getting lost in conversation and marvelling at the landscape, that I forget to work and just sit and look at the landscape.

It's incredible to think that such a landscape is near where I live but I had never thought to explore. Whenever I go on car or train journeys I spend most of the time with my earphones in and just staring out of the window. It feels good to take time to walk around as sometimes when we're in a car we tend to take the same daily route and miss out on the peaceful landscape slightly out of the way of the main roads.

I urge you to go out for a walk this week and explore where you live or wherever you go on holiday. There is something special about walking with good company and letting time fly by.

Summer Update

As you can see August has been low on posts. I have been busy over the last three weeks and have had little time to blog. I can assure you that I have made more posts for this month. But for now I will give you a brief update on my Summer holiday.

Family and Friends
After months of revision and exams I have been spending more social time with family and friends. It has been nice to take breaks from school work. It could be anything from going bowling with friends to going to the supermarket with family.

London
Over the last week I have spent time in London visiting family. It' great to meet up with family and have a proper catch up. The weather was not as good as we've been used to over the last month. However there were some brilliant cloud formations which meant I was constantly walking outside to take photographs.

My Birthday
On Monday I went to London with my Mum to see Phantom of the Opera for my birthday. I can't begin to say how amazing this show is. I have wanted to see the show for months and I can say that it didn't disappoint. I couldn't believe the staging and the talent of the actors. What I find incredible is the foreshadowing within the characters and the storyline. Also it was good to see the show with my Mum as she hadn't seen the show before. Therefore I was able to see her reactions as she discovered the storylines. Since then Mum and I are still singing the songs.

A-Level work
Finally I have been dong school work. Even though it is the summer holidays I still have to complete work for my second year of A-Levels. Although I haven't been stressing about the work as I want to enjoy the summer. Knowing me I will leave the work to the last day of summer.

Hope you are having a good Summer x

Oh I do like to be beside the seaside

This week Mum and I took my Great Nanny out on a day trip. First we went to the beach, which is one of Nanny's favourite places. It was lovely to chat and look over the seaside while eating ice creams, which were melting fast.

After that we went for a walk around the gardens at Felbrigg Hall. We had never been before and didn't know what to expect. The gardens are big and full of a variety of flowers. I think we will go back when it's less warm as there is little shade and my Nanny can't walk too far. The gardens were quiet and was a good place for my to test my limited knowledge of plant names.

Finally we ended the day with a family meal at a local restaurant. It's fair to say that we all felt tired after such a busy day. It was great to spend time with my Mum and Great Nanny. It was lovely to see my Great Nanny smiling and laughing the whole day.

Tumblr Favourites - July 2014

Here are some of my favourite posts from my Tumblr this month. You can look at my favourites from last month here.

This month my Tumblr focused less on fandoms and more on scenic landscapes and text posts. Although I always have to reblog a FRIENDS gif when I see one. I really like quotes and statements that I can relate to. Also the mystery of others wondering who the quote you blog is about. Sometimes there are things people don't want to publically share, there indirect text posts are a subtle hint at people's thoughts and feelings.

Similar to past months I have enjoyed looking at photography of the sky and iconic city scenes. I like to imagine myself walking down those same streets one day when I go travelling or even painting the skylines.

Lazy Sundays

It's nice to have that one day a week when you don't have to worry about rushing around or frantically working. For me it is towards the end of the summer term and start of the holidays. Therefore I have less work and can devote time to reading and making the most of the summer sunshine. This is an ideal time to stop and take time for yourself. When we are busy and our mind is preoccupied with other things we forget to make time for ourselves. This is why I am going to make the most of this time before starting more work and going on fun but tiring day trips during the summer.

Therefore I am spending my lazy Sunday reading outside in my garden on the swing seat, nicely placed in the shade. There is a long list of books I want to read before the end of summer so I had best start reading.

I hope you are having a great weekend.x

Friday Favourites - Spending time with family

Last Saturday my Great Nanny celebrated her 100th birthday. My Nanny even received a telegram from the Queen to congratulate her, which I had to register for. To celebrate the family had a party for her at our house. It was lovely to see my Nanny so happy and to catch up with relatives. I even met relatives I had never met before, some even travelled over from Canada especially for the occasion.

It's on days like these when I realise how important family is and that even though we may not always see each other, we will always be there for the moments that matter. I'm definitely family orientated and enjoy going to these events just to talk and listen to family stories.
