Norwich Aviation Museum

I recently went to the Norwich Aviation Museum with my Nanny, Grandad and cousin. As a family we like to go out on day trips. We try to look for new places to go and my Grandad thought that visiting the Norwich Aviation Museum would be a good morning trip out. It was my first time visiting the museum and I had a great time there.

We were the first people there so we had the place to ourselves. This gave us the chance to have a good walk around and look at everything in the museum, without having to worry about crowds of people. Also my cousin and I were able to wonder around taking lots of photos of the aircrafts.

One of my favourite parts of my visit was listening to my Grandad's stories as we walked around the museum. He told me about what his life was like when he was growing up and what members of our family did during the Second World War. It was really interesting.

The museum has a  lot of interesting pieces. They have aeroplanes, an American Jeep, medals, uniforms, photographs and so much more. The museum is well looked after and has pleasant staff. The museum is not hugely advertised, so I do not think many people know about it. Therefore it is quiet and gives you the chance to look around at your own pace.

My Summer Reading List

Today I thought I would tell you about my summer reading list. These are books I have wanted to read for a while and am trying to find time to read. This list does not include books to read for school.

The first book on the list is, ‘The five people you meet in heaven’ by Mitch Albom. The book is about a war veteran who dies while trying to save a little girl. The man goes on to the afterlife where he meets five people and they explain his earthly life to him.
I have not read a book like this before but it sounded interesting because I think it talks about how events can lead people down different paths and that you can be part of someone’s life without realising.

The second book is, ‘An offer you can’t refuse’ by Jill Mansell. This book is about a seventeen-year old girl who is offered £10,000 as long as she breaks up with her boyfriend. The twist of the story is that she is offered the money by her boyfriend’s Mother. Will she take the money?
I thought this would be a good book to read because it looks at the difficult decisions that people make in their life, which will affect their future.

Another book on my list is, ‘The Night Circus’, by Erin Morgenstern. The book is about a mysterious circus that arrives without any warning or announcement. I wanted to read this book because it has received really good reviews, so I thought I would read it to see what people are talking about. I do not know a lot about the storyline of this book, which is good as I find out what is going to happen as I am reading.

The last book on my list is, ’Wreck This Journal’, by Keri Smith. This is not a reading book, but I wanted to include it on the list. I have already started the book and it is brilliant. It encourages people to stop trying to do perfect, accurate artwork and focuses on having fun.

I hope to have completed all of the books on the list by the time I go back to school.

What I want to do this summer

Now that I am free for the summer there are things that I want to do but am either too lazy or forget to do. So to make sure I do everything I want to do this summer, I decided to make a list of things that I want to have done by the end of the summer.  So I thought I would share with you some of the things on my list.

Things I want to do this summer:

1. Finish decorating my bedroom
2. Get second ear piercings
3. Finish my Wreck This Journal
4. Finish my knitting project
5. Make a scrapbook full of Year 11 memories
6. 10 new posts to this blog

I have not included school work on the list because I will have to do that during the summer no matter what. I will make sure that I do everything on this list and will probably let you know when I have completed everything on the list.

My High School Prom

Yesterday was one of the best days of my life. I had my high school prom. It was an amazing evening where I got to spend time with friends, have a laugh and dance. It was great to see everyone dressed up for the event. It was strange at first being all dressed up for prom because usually I don’t wear makeup, heels or dresses but I loved it as I felt grown up and pretty. I don’t think we get enough opportunities to get all dressed up like we can for prom.

I had my hair and makeup done for prom. Because I don’t usually wear makeup and I wanted my hair curled especially for prom, I thought it would be best to have someone else do my hair and makeup rather than me stressing about doing it all myself. I went with some of my friends to get our hair and makeup done. Then I came home to get ready and had photographs with my Mum, Nanny and Grandad. I love the photographs with my family because the three of them are important to me as they are the people who have always been there for me and been a huge part of my life and I am glad I celebrated my prom with them.

I travelled to prom with a group of friends in a vintage car. All of my friends looked great in their dresses and without realising we had all somehow colour coordinated our outfits. It was fantastic seeing everyone when we arrived at the venue. I was able to spend the evening celebrating with all of my friends and my year group. We all had group photographs and we all danced. I am proud to say I danced in my heels all night. I have a lot of brilliant photographs and memories from last night.

One thing I do find sad is that my Dad forgot it was my prom. I still haven’t heard back from him which is a shame because prom was important to me and I would have liked him to have been part of the day. Even if he had only sent me a text wishing me good luck I would have been happy. But this didn’t stop me from having the best time at my prom.

Today I have been looking back at photographs and thinking, “wow, did that really happen? Is that me?” I feel very lucky to have had such a good day. One project for the summer is to make an album full of memories from my last year at high school. This will make sure I don’t forget all of the memories.

Free for the summer

Yesterday I finished all of my GCSE exams. I am relieved and happy that I can now have two months off from school. I hope I get good exam results, but I will worry about that in August. Also, I still have prom to look forward to which is just over a week away.

I am glad to be rid of the stress of exams. Of course the school had put a bit of pressure on us to do well. Especially when in our final assembly our Head Teacher said, "the last twelve years of your life have been focusing on preparing you for the next few weeks of your exams. Do not waste these twelve years". Then decided to follow that up with talking about how we should not feel too stressed about exams. How are we not meant to feel stressed when you just said we might have wasted twelve years of our life if we do not do well in the exams?

My Grandad made me smile yesterday. He likes to be realistic and keep everyone's feet firmly on the ground. My Nanny and Grandad picked me up after my exam. I told them about my last exam and how I thought it went. Then I said that I was happy my exams had finished. About five seconds later my Grandad said, "Well you still have your A-Level exams". Of course I know I still have A-Level exams to look forward to, which are going to be more difficult, and my Grandad was right but I just laughed. I was able to celebrate for about five seconds before my Grandad brought me back to reality. That's one of the reasons I love my Grandad.

I did not have plans to do anything special with my family and friends to celebrate the end of my exams, so I thought I would share my news with you.

Now that I have time off I have time for projects I have wanted to work on, but have not had time to do. This includes redecorating my bedroom and being more dedicated to this blog. I am not going on holiday anywhere abroad this summer, so I will talk to you about what I get up to during the summer in the U.K.

Happy Father's Day

I wish everyone a happy Father's Day today and wish you all a good day, especially to those who cannot celebrate Father's Day. Whatever the reason is for not celebrating I hope today is a good day.

I will not be celebrating Father's Day with my Dad. The one time I celebrated Father's Day with my Dad was when I was one years-old. Every year I always buy my Dad a Father's Day present but this year I painted him a picture to summarise our holiday to New York last year. It took me three days to paint and was definitely worth it. Pleased to say my Dad loved the painting. I gave my Dad his Father's Day present weeks ago when I last saw him. I wanted to give him the painting before he went abroad for a couple of months.

I always find shopping for my Dad a challenge and usually end up giving him a smart tie for his Father's Day present. Original I know. But around Father's Day there is normally the simple option of buying them ties, socks, chocolate or something sports related, like a book on golf or football. Every year I try to think of something different to buy my Dad, but almost every year I buy him a tie. That's why I made him a painting this year. I thought he's probably fed up of me giving him the same Father's Day present each year.

Happy Father's Day Dad xxx
